How to set different wallpapers on two monitors in Windows
Each monitor can have its own wallpaper, whether it is a regular picture or an animated one. Here is how to set this up in Windows itself and how to do the same with live wallpapers.
Regular pictures: Windows settings
- Right-click the desktop and choose Personalize, then Background.
- Right-click an image in the recent list.
- Pick the monitor it should appear on, then repeat for the second screen.
Live wallpapers: Aurolis
- Download Aurolis and open the library.
- Select a wallpaper and set the monitor list to Only monitor 1. The list marks which one is your main screen.
- Select a second wallpaper and set it to Only monitor 2.
To go back to one wallpaper on every screen, choose On all monitors.
Choosing wallpapers for two screens
On the monitor you work on, something minimal or calm works well. The second one can be bolder, such as space or neon.
Will two wallpapers use more of my PC?
Yes, because each screen shows its own animation. The app can pause the wallpaper on just the monitor a maximized window covers, and you will find the other pause settings in its options. Read more in do live wallpapers slow down your PC.
